Giff
Man Skateboarding
Roto1 from Merry Eady on Vimeo.
I tried to animate using the same technique as the bouncing ball. I tried to use traditional animating but using photoshop to do this instead of drawing it all out onto paper. Instead of having 24 frames per second I did about half the amount just to make it quicker and easier for me to achieve for my first time animating using this technique. I laid a video of a guy skateboarding down on a photoshop file an then drew over frame by frame redrawing out the stick person and the surrounding around him to then finally take about the actually video and leave just the stick man. I liked this way of animating because I felt that done properly could look very effective and having a unique way of animating. If I had more time I would have more detail within the video and have it going on for longer. As much as I like the stick man I feel that I could make it look a lot better using this technique if I was using my wacom tablet.

Max Ernst
Max Ernst has been very inspirational. I like the way he uses colour within his work and how that explores different ways in which he can express himself. His work is very unusual and has expressions of people within the paintings but not actually having a clear image of person. There are only certain characteristics within the paintings that give off a human like quality. I feel that this gives off a childish like feeling within the images by giving objects a characteristic feel to them. Its a playful style of working but also could look quite twisted. I like how the contrast of the different qualities within the paintings work together and mixed with the choice of colours has a sophisticated and spooky look towards them.

Man Walking
Man walking 720p from Merry Eady on Vimeo.
In workshop week I took a class in C4D where we did character developing. We got to look at all the different layers you get within a person and how you could use that to make him move. Once I got around to animating the guy, the more I played with him the more messed up he become. Eventually every time I got him to walk forwards his bum got left behind. I couldn't correct that unless I started all over again, so I have made a video showing what I can and shouldn't do on C4D. I feel that this is progress within my development of work on C4D.

Cylinder
Cylinder from Merry Eady on Vimeo.
Through using C4D I have managed to work more on my skills. This time I have a cylinder that bends. This was a practice piece to see how an object can bend in one direction to see how and where the placing need to be for this before I start to animate a person. I liked how it can ben really far down but only in one direction. This is to make it look like it has a ben like a leg, where a leg can only bend in one direction. I feel that by doing this process it has given me a better understanding on how I can use different techniques within C4D to link in with making a character on the same program.

Jumping Man
Jumping from Merry Eady on Vimeo.
The jumping man was an experiment to go within a music video. I used a piece of music so that the man would jump in the right places and in time with the piece of music. Unfortunately I couldn't get the piece of music again to add to the video once I had exported it.

Scene 2
Scene 3 from Merry Eady on Vimeo.
Here I have the altered flying saucer around the Earth. It took awhile to find out how to get rid of the shadow on the flying saucer but once I found it I feel that this looks so much better without it.

Scene
Scene from Merry Eady on Vimeo.
In workshop week I made a rotating earth with a flying saucer spinning around it. This was the first render version of it and as you can see the trail that flows behind the saucer when it gets around the the right hand side a shadow gets cast over it. This then means that the colour cuts out for a short while. I had to go back into my settings to try and fix this.
