Triangle
MVI 9535 Trimmed from Merry Eady on Vimeo.
During workshop week I created a triangle using C4D. This was my very first time of ever using C4D and thought that for my first time I did quite well. I used C4D and after effects to put a triangle into a moving video that was taken in one of the uni buildings. I had to have the triangle positioned in the right place within the video and make sure that the shadow was also facing in the same direction. It was interesting to see how I could do this considering after effect and C4D is fairly new to my knowledge. The triangle at to stay positioned in the same place without moving while the angle of the camera would move into the screen where the triangle was placed. I feel that the outcome of the video is quite effective in that I feel that the shadow and the placing of the triangle looks exact to how I wanted it to be.

Book Design
During workshop week I decided to create a book. We all went away to gather ideas for a book that would have been unique. I liked the idea of using nature to create a unique book. I mostly focused on using trees. Here I used a selection of images so that I could get an outline of an image and then tried to layer then on top of each other to create a unique design. I found this useful with my development of colours and trying to use natural fabrics and materials against unnatural colours. I feel that the contrast between the two create an interesting take on nature against man made materials.

C4D
During the first workshop week I used C4D to create a still image on a sphere where I deformed it. I used colour and toning and lighting to create a specific effect and make it look realistic. I like how the spikes and dents within the image really create a more interesting effect and the ripples in the sphere help to make it look inspiring. I feel that that colour I used was quite a unnatural colour for the shape that it is, but I do feel that the unnatural colour compliments the unnatural shape that its on. Yellow symbolises bright and light and happy and put that with spikes that could be a symbolism for pain and death really brings a contrast to the image.

Final City In Flux Video
Final of Re-do from Merry Eady on Vimeo.
Here Is the finished film for my City In Flux project. I liked the changes I had made when I re-did the film and decided to keep them. I also looked back at the other videos that weren't as high of a quality as the newer videos and decided on which effect and style I wanted my final video to look like. I really like how the film has turned out and I find it interesting to look at the surface side of a city rather than concentrating on an actual object.

Re-do Of Film
Re-do of Final from Merry Eady on Vimeo.
After noticing that the quality of the previous videos I did were poor I decided to re-do the whole video. I knew what I already wanted within the video and how it was suppose to go so I re-created it but hopefully making the quality of the images slightly better. I only made a few slight alterations within the video that I feel makes the video better. Once I had finished making the video I rendered it so that I could see the quality of it before I add any effect to the film. This allowed me to see the outcome of the video as well. Also when I re-did the video it came to 1 second shorter than the previous one. I feel that this is because I made the video more precise to the song I chose and the images evenly and equally spaced out within the timeline of After Effects.

Final output 3
Final output 3 720p from Merry Eady on Vimeo.
The last film I did added a different effect over the top of the images. I likes this one because it added a colour over the top making the images within the video more unique and I feel conveys the decaying aspect of the video better. I still however don't like the way the quality of the video has come out.

Final output 2
Final output 2 720p from Merry Eady on Vimeo.
The second short film I did was one that I did add an effect to. I feel that by doing this it adds a subtle change so the video but more effective. However, like the last film I did the images are very pixelated.

Final output 1
Final output 1 720p from Merry Eady on Vimeo.
This is my final piece in development. Here I've just used the images and sound to create the video without using any other effect. This allowed me to see multiple outcomes of what my final film will look like and then decide which one would most suit the end result. I like how simple it can come across and how by not adding any other effects into it you are able to really focus on the images. The only issue I have with it is how pixelated the video has turned out to be.

InDesign Article Design
The third week in the Adobe Creative Suite classes I used InDesign to create and article page. First of all I had to set-up the page so that I was able to accurately place different parts of the article on the page to look well organised. I had to use rulers and guidelines so that I could accurately place the writing and the headline logo in places that would make the layout of the article effective and professional. I learnt how to use the master page to set lines and page numbers so that it would appear on all of the following pages I decide to use without having to re-do it on every page.
I used another InDesign document to practice different techniques and short cuts with the designing of the article. Two that I found were really interesting was drawing an object and getting the words to only fit perfectly within the object. The other was to get the writing to only go around the outside of the object of the line of the shape. I liked using this way of working because I felt that it's a different and interesting way to get a message across to the audience. Another technique I used was the get the image to fall neatly within title writing. By using these different techniques it allowed me to understand further how I can use InDesign better to create a more effective and professional design.
Adding images into the design of the article makes it looks more exciting visually to look at. Instead of dragging an image into the program I had to import the image onto the page. This is because the program needs to know where the source of the image is for it to work properly and for it to be printed out correctly. Also in InDesign you are able to cut out the background if the background is simple enough for it do be done. This allowed me to have the writing go around the shape of the images I put in, I felt that by doing this it made it look more visually exciting.
